Come Experience Scouting!
Shenandoah Fest is a day of fun for the entire community within our local Virginia Headwaters Council and beyond. Its aim is to be enjoyable for all ages and to give a place to learn about and interact with Scouting. Our slogan is “Experience Scouting.”
Shenandoah Fest takes place on May 18th, 2024. Visitors may arrive from 11:00AM to 7:00PM.
Throughout the day, numerous activities are available throughout the camp, but we try our best to keep everything condensed to a central area. Most activities are held in and around the Parade Field, which is at the center of camp. Please ask a staff member for directions if you need to. You can also see more of the camp during the camp tour.
Shenandoah Fest is organized, planned, and led entirely by youth scouts. The scouting program builds great leaders, and Shenandoah Fest is a great example of this! The event is run by youth in Shenandoah Lodge of the Order of the Arrow. We collaborate with the Virginia Headwaters Council and local troops, packs, and crews. Adults advise youth in this program, but will also be assisting with food service, our medical area, and certain programs.
Safety
Any visitor under the age of 11 years must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times. Cub Scouts may be accompanied by an adult pack leader instead.
Youth visitors under the age of 18 that are not members of the Scouting program must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Registration
Shenandoah Fest is free to attend for everyone! After parking, safely make your way out of the parking area and through the camp gate. Make a left turn towards the camp office. You will see two tarps at the check-in area. Please remember to check-in! Every visitor must check-in before proceeding further into the camp. You will be given a wristband to wear which shows that you have checked in, so please wear it until you leave.
Non-Scouter Visitors
If you or someone you are with is not a dues-paying member of a BSA unit, you must fill out and sign the Activity Consent Form in order to attend Shenandoah Fest. The Activity Consent Form may be found here: https://filestore.scouting.org/filestore/pdf/19-673.pdf
Filling this form out ahead of time is a great way to make check-in even easier, but we will have additional copies ready as well.
