It fills us with pride to witness Scouting persistently instilling vital life skills and values in the young individuals who participate. During the event, our Council President, Steve Hammond, highlighted several successful endeavors achieved by our council over the past year. Additionally, Adam Sowers and his two sons, Brady and Charlie, shared their family’s personal journey with Scouting, emphasizing its profound impact. Lastly, Ken Young, CEO of Apex Clean Energy, recounted his own Scouting experiences and motivated us with insights into his company’s remarkable achievements in renewable energy.

Our Speaker:
CEO, Ken Young drives Apex’s corporate strategy; manages the company’s day-to-day operations, including the origination, construction, and operation of utility-scale wind, solar, and storage facilities, distributed energy resources, and green fuel technologies; and leads a mission-driven team of more than 400 professionals who are accelerating the energy transition. Previously, Ken served as Apex’s COO (2017–2023) and vice president of operations (2015–2017). Prior to joining Apex, Ken worked for Vestas Wind Systems as a chief program manager, overseeing technology support throughout the Americas. Ken is a former U.S. Army infantry officer; he served in Europe and as part of The Old Guard, the army’s premier ceremonial unit, in Arlington, Virginia. He holds a bachelor of science in political science and systems engineering from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and a master of business administration from the University of Notre Dame.
